Overview: Form is basically nothing other than UI (User
interface); where client/ User interacts dynamically and get their requirement
fulfilled regard less its back-end functioning and code execution.
To cover different scenarios and use cases, Microsoft
Dynamics ax has designed under mentioned different templates.
PS: Target audience of this article are Newbie to either AX
CU8 R3 or AX 7
You can find those templates under AOT node in forms.
Each form is designed after considering the functional and
technical design pattern, Following each template is discussed in detail.
ListPage: Most highlighted and aggregated target information is displayed in this
design pattern.

DetailFormMaster: All information that is in detail to prior
list page. But keeping in mind, Detail information categorize itself into two
portions, which are master data and transnational data.
DetailFormMaster form just provide additional information
(master data) to selection in List Page.

DetailFormTransaction: This
form captures transnational data scenario, where each sales order may have 1 or
more items in it.

SimpleListDetail: The main purpose of this form is to merge
List navigation and information context on same page other than reviewing it in
two different forms like listpage and DetailFormMaster/ DetailFormTransaction

SimpleList: This is most simple form, particular use of it
comes into play when there are not much columns like Inquiry or easy to insert data into
tables, other then data upload.

TableOfContant: The requirement for such form is when your
process needs multiple forms to represent data. The best example of this form
is Human resource detail form.

Dialog: dialog form is used for sole purpose of initiate,
cancel or finalize any process after entering information
